I want to live in lots of different countries (more on this later). Japan is top of my list.
To do this how I want to do this - to be engaged with everything around me and able to communicate with people - I want to be able to understand and speak decent Japanese. I am therefore teaching myself Japanese.
At some point I want to start lessons, but for now I am teaching myself at home. Or at least I’m kidding myself that I am. At the moment I’m doing bits here and there. I need to knuckle down and make more of an effort with this! A miracle is not going to happen - Jdramas are not suddenly going to teach me fluent Japanese overnight! I need to set some goals, stick to them and work harder. I have the interest; I have the passion; I want to learn this. Now I need to put the time in and make it happen.
So my new goal is - spend 30min a day learning Japanese. Characters, grammer, vocab, listening to podcasts, whatever. Just do it. I’ll review this goal after a week and consider up-ing the time.
